Frequently Asked Questions
Are the “Research Dossiers” just like the white paper libraries available on other websites?
No. Generally speaking, free listings of white papers are free for a reason. Most of their content is promotional material from sponsors and advertisers. Also, such libraries contain as many resources as possible – with little editorial oversight. Entries are often not pre-screened or filtered for quality or relevance. In many cases users are free to upload their own white papers to these repositories, making the resulting list no more useful than simply Googling for a particular topic. AllAboutAlpha’s research dossiers are assembled by our editors based on what we believe is important and relevant specifically to our readers.
Is AllAboutAlpha.com all about hedge funds?
Not really. While hedge funds play an important role in our research, our focus is on the broader transformations in the asset management industry (portable alpha, 130/30, alternative beta, fees, asset management business strategy, etc.). As a result, we do not report on new fund launches/closures, people moves, regulatory developments or news on specific managers unless they illustrate what we believe is a fundamental trend demand your attention. We try to connect the dots between seemingly disparate news stories, drawing linkages to relevant academic research and industry surveys contained in our “research dossiers”.
Is AllAboutAlpha.com a news service?
No. AllAboutAlpha.com is an information and analysis service and is a complement to traditional news websites. Generally speaking, we leave breaking news to the newswires. Instead, we scan hundreds of news items from a variety of the world’s best news sources, news aggregation services, associations and academic institutes to distil the one or two key developments that are worthy of your attention. This allows you to focus more on managing your business and less on scanning and digesting what has become a flood of daily news and information on the web.
Who reads AllAboutAlpha.com?
AllAboutAlpha.com is read by institutional investors, asset managers, service providers (consultants, accountants, broker /dealers, lawyers etc.), academics and the media. A little over half of our readers are based in the United States, a quarter in Europe and the rest divided evenly between Asia, Canada and the rest of the world. While readers have a variety of different job responsibilities, most are involved with corporate strategy, marketing, sales or portfolio management. Nearly 3,000 of our 10,000+ monthly unique visitors also subscribe to our monthly email update “Alpha Mail”.
Can I advertise on AllAboutAlpha.com?
There are three ways that your firm can leverage AllAboutAlpha.com’s focus and reach. Industry Partners are firms in the financial services industry that work closely with us to enhance their reputation for thought leadership and develop new sales opportunities. They often contribute proprietary research and are provided with a “micro-site” within AllAboutAlpha.com where they have the opportunity to develop a direct relationship with those readers who are most intrested in their ideas, products and services. We will soon also be accepting traditional advertising via a third party advertising partner. And finally, we provide enhanced listings in our “resources” section (170×170 logo and 150 word company description). Please contact us for more information on these opportunities.
Companies wishing to list their events should also contact us by email with the details of the event. But please note that to avoid becoming a giant events website, we have reserved our events section for those events that we think are of direct relevance to the topics covered at AllAboutAlpha.com.
