Doug Friedenberg, Principal of Jigsaw Capital, LLC (New York City)
Doug Friedenberg is principal of Jigsaw Capital, LLC, www.jigsaw-capital.com, which advises on and arranges asset-based lending for small to mid-sized businesses.
His experience in the financial industry includes eight years at Morgan Stanley on the sell side, dealing with high net worth individuals and mid-sized institutions; managing his own convertible arbitrage hedge fund for a number of years; serving as a portfolio manager for a family office.
Doug’s continuing experience and interaction with various players in the alternative investment universe leads him to conclude that the story of man’s search for investment Alpha is a story about about art as well as science. People who generate Alpha are at the extreme end of the Bell Curve for a time, and there’s as much value in trying to understand how and why they see what they see as there is in knowing what what they’ve actually done. To put it another way, if you scratch behind the algorithm hard enough, you’re liable to find a human underneath. Doug thinks life is a series of stories, and some are even worth retelling. Doug can be followed on Twitter: @JigsawCapital.
