Blogger’s Notebook: Planes, Trains, Automobiles & WiFi

8 June 2007

The past 48 hours have been an interesting exercise in mobile blogging here at AllAboutAlpha.com.   I wrote this posting from a plane high above the foothills of Alberta on a flight to Vancouver.  Yesterday’s posting was written (and uploaded) from a Starbuck’s and McDonald’s in Montreal (via WiFi available on a 30 minute pre-paid card) and the posting from the day before was written, researched and uploaded from a train leaving Toronto (via spotty, but workable mobile WiFi).  I could have uploaded this posting from the plane, but elected instead to post it (again via WiFi) from my hotel room in Vancouver.

Only one year ago, none of this would have been possible.  So say goodbye to physical offices.  We live in truly interesting times.

P.S.  Speaking of blogging, readers of other financial blogs may recognize the name of another attendee at the HFM Canada event this week: Greg Newton.  Greg, of course, is the insightful, always entertaining and unabashedly acerbic author of Naked Shorts (and, of course, former published of MARHedge).
